Smart cinematography and dark shades show promises of a thriller but soon, "System" does a reboot and turns into a love story.Smart and suave contract killers, sharpshooter cops and a sultry crooner take you out on an action packed journey, as you get inside the system to understand the system.
Barin Senapati (Pratik Roy) is the kingpin of the Kolkata underworld and Dilawar Sheikh (Sabyasachi) is a middleman working for him. Ekalavya (Indraneil), who looks dapper in his smartly cut suits, is a contract killer known as Cheetah working for Barin Senapati. When there is a contract killer, there has to be a smart and reckless cop as well, none other than Inspector Rudra (Indrajit), who is often hauled up by his superior for being trigger happy. His partner, silent and cerebral Arindol, does justice to his role.

Smart cinematography and dark shades show promises of a thriller but soon, "System" does a reboot and turns into a love story. Rani Dutta (Suvraa) is a club singer, who gets caught in the middle of a gunfight and loses her eye sight, and then, falls blindly in love with Ekalavya, quite literally. Although she stumbles and falls quite often, surprisingly she is able to make umpteen cups of coffee for all and sundry. Soon, Barin Senapati goes abroad and Siddhant (Rajesh Sharma) takes charge, only to come after Indraneil with a vengeance. He appoints a sharp shooter to bump off Indraneil, saying, "Invest ekbar, profit du bar."
While Indraneil is good in quite a few scenes and uses his expressive eyes fully, Indrajit could have done more justice to his role of a tough cop. Sabyasachi, however, takes the cake and is brilliant in his portrayal of a gangster with moral hang ups. The interrogation scene, where he pretends to be drunk, is good. Manoj Mitra as the nagging landlord of Suvraa adds a touch of humour to the film. Riingo's cinematography with a sepia tone stands out, but since the film promises to be one on the underworld, a little less love would have been appreciated.
Jeet Gannguli's music strikes the right chord with "Ferari mon" being quite a hit with the audience.
